Catwoman (Concept)
Before the final costume designs were settled, the talented artists who created Batman: The Animated Series worked through many concepts. There are some great sketches by Bruce Timm of Catwoman wearing all black. It’s basically the final design sans the belt. I thought that would make a fun and simple (read more...)
Carpenter
I very much enjoyed Paul Dini’s run on Detective comics a few years back. His stories, as one might expect, ring true with the characters in ways that other writers often miss. In that time, he also expanded the roster of Gotham weirdos as only Mr. Dini can. Among those (read more...)
Batgirl (Cape)
TRCreations continues to inspire! This recipe is s̶t̶o̶l̶e̶n̶ l̶i̶f̶t̶e̶d̶  borrowed directly from him. The cape is cut from craft foam. A whole was drilled through the foam and into the figure’s back to accommodate the flight stand peg. (The original cape just lays over the new cape.) Following TRCreation’s lead, I (read more...)
Mikey “Flyturtle”
My history with the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles goes back to the original Mirage comic book. I loved it! Enough so that when the first cartoon premiered, I was instantly disappointed by it because it had been so heinously dumbed down for kids. (I was never a fan of the (read more...)
Harley Quinn (Bombshell)
When I crafted an unmasked Harley noggin from a Roxy Rocket figure, I knew I didn’t want the rest of Roxy to go to waste. Fortunately, the answer was staring me in the face from my shelves: animated-style Bombshell Harley! It was a natural fit! As with some of my (read more...)
Harley Quinn (Unmasked)
You knew it wouldn’t be long before I fashioned an unmasked Harley head. Ironically, within a few days of finishing this, DC Collectibles announced their own in the Harley Expressions pack. (The Casimir Curse strikes again!) Fortunately, that head is meant for the BTAS body, and mine fits the larger (read more...)
Roxy Rocket
What to do when you have a spare Roxy figure? Make her coat-less variant, of course! Sadly, it’s not as easy as removing her coat. To achieve this, I replaced her torso and arms with those from a TNBA Harley. I had to Dremel away Harley’s details, of course. (Catwoman (read more...)
Poison Ivy (TNBA Comic)
In the “Gotham Adventures” comic, Poison Ivy is usually depicted as having a slightly green cast to her skin. I’ve heard that this was intended for the animated episodes, but like the green of Robin’s uniform, the right color could not be achieved using the technology at the time. With (read more...)
Nightwing
In the upcoming animated movie “Batman and Harley Quinn,” Nightwing once again becomes victim of a bad haircut. From a mullet to bad bangs! Poor kid can’t catch a break. Naturally, I felt the need to memorialize this tragedy on my shelf. From the movie trailers, it looks like Nightwing (read more...)
Lady Talia
So I had made Dark Claw and Sparrow. Now they needed a villain. Lady Talia was the first and best choice. She’s built from a DC Collectibles 6″ BTAS Talia figure. Originally, I had intended to sculpt the mechanical lines of her legs, but after a few tries the effect (read more...)
