Solomon Grundy (Gangster)
Most people remember Solomon Grundy as a mindless brute. And he is often depicted that way in comics and animation. However, the original conceit of the comics was Grundy would die and be reborn multiple times, and often he would be reborn differently that his previous incarnation. Sometimes he came (read more...)
Supergirl (2024)
Todd McFarlane’s use of the DC license has gone from “unique and appropriate sculpts for every new character” to “let’s reuse those parts no matter how inappropriate.” To be clear, I have no problem with reuse of parts when the parts make sense to do so. It’s when the boundaries (read more...)
Talia al Ghul (Desert Garb)
Some time ago, somebody turned me on to the Jakks Pacific Scorpion King Cassandra figure from 2002. The quality is not up to modern standards, but it’s not a bad figure. And she scales well enough with 1:10th stuff. I knew I could use her for a “desert garb” Talia. (read more...)
Whirly-Bat
I got into 3D resin printing so I could make my own action figure heads and vehicles. Most of those vehicles tend to be big Batmobiles, but this Whirly-Bat is an excellent example of what can be achieved on a more modest level. The 3D files were developed by japjxp (read more...)
Wonder Woman (2024)
It seemed to take McFarlane an inordinate amount of time to release a “classic” Wonder Woman. To date he has yet to produce a “modern” comics version. That’s what I wanted to achieve in this simple project. It’s just a leg/pelvis swap between a classic Diana and a movie Diana.  (read more...)
Zatanna Zatara (2024)
Of the handful of Zatanna figures over the years, none have even come close to the version I want. I decided it was time to fix that. Sadly, I’ve forgotten many of the details that went into this project. I can tell you the head is a 3D print sculpted (read more...)
Site Update: July 12, 2024 #ILikeBigPrints
When I started 3D resin printing, I knew I wanted to swing for the fences, and push the limits of what a resin printer could do. The learning curve is rough, but the rewards are so, so sweet! Here are three of my latest. Arkham Asylum gate Brainiac’s Skullship Garraka (read more...)
Arkham Asylum Gate
InPrintCondition developed some great 3D files while they were operating. They primarily developed Star Wars stuff (which was excellent), but I was more excited for their Gotham-based stuff. I have several sets of files to work through. This Arkham Asylum gate is a prime example of their work. It is (read more...)
Brainiac’s Skullship
I don’t collect or customize much in the “Super Powers” scale, but I know several folks who do, and I enjoy seeing their work. Somewhere in that world, photos of this Brainiac ship started to bubble up. Turns out it was designed by DFSergent on Thingiverse, and it’s a totally (read more...)
Garraka
I stumbled across this Garraka 3D sculpt by CAITLINSCULPTS on Cults3D. It’s quite good, and I knew I would want to scale it up from Real Ghostbusters scale to 1:1o. That skirt barely fit inside ye olde Elegoo Jupiter, but it got the job done! I only wish I had (read more...)
