Javelin-R1
The Secret Saturdays continues to be the toy line that keeps on giving (to customizers)! My “Javelin-R1” is a repaint of the Secret Saturdays Griffin Stealth ship. I found it on clearance, and was struck by its design similarities to the JLU Javelins. Obviously, it’s not a direct match, but (read more...)
Hall of Doom
Imaginext continues their line of amazing playsets. Too bad they’re the wrong scale for Timm-verse figures! That’s okay. They still make great backdrops. Like most of their playsets, this one needed some extra attention in the paint department. The base (the ground and the Hall of Doom’s “legs”) was a (read more...)
Penguin (Casual)
I absolutely love the scene of Batman interrogating Penguin in “The Ultimate Thrill.” Great animation, design work, and character. I’ve always wanted to make a “casual” Pengy, and I finally did. The base is the usual Mattel Penguin. I sanded away the tux, and sculpted the smoking jacket with (read more...)
Joker’s Funhouse
Some of the Imaginext playsets are tremendous fun. I only wish they were a little bit larger to accommodate the Timm-verse scale. Despite that, I’ll still use them as backdrops. They are too much fun to ignore! This was one of the Joker Funhouse playsets. It’s very much designed to (read more...)
Harley Quinn (2015)
This little beauty was sculpted and cast by Vance T. of Bad Faerie Productions. He does some amazing work, and I hope to add more of his pieces to my shelf someday. (Hello, nurse!) Around the time I obtained this kit from Vance, I discovered the work of John Ficchi. (read more...)
Harvey Dent (1989 Movie)
Let’s be honest. Mattel’s attempts at making 3 ¾” scale figures has been a joke since day one. Everything they’ve made looks like a Happy Meal toy. Especially compared to some of the works of art Hasbro has released at that scale. I guess practice really does make perfect. With (read more...)
Egon Spengler (Courtroom)
When the Mattel Ghostbusters line ended, they left a small hole in the collection. “Courtroom” Peter and ray were made, but not Egon. I meant to take matters into my own hands for some time, but I waited until I found a deal on the parts. I simple placed the (read more...)
Catwoman (New 52)
Some time ago DC Collectibles released a set of seven villain figures. The only new on in the bunch was Catwoman. Naturally, that’s the only one I wanted. But I wasn’t about to pay over $100 for just the one figure. So I waited, hoping Catwoman might show up on (read more...)
Batman (Anti-Fire)
This one’s been on the books for years, but never seemed to make the cut. I finally got around to it with this batch. The boots, gauntlets, and belt buckle are made from Magic Sculpt. For the remainder of the belt, I got lazy and applied cut vinyl. Note to (read more...)
Alfred Pennyworth (1966)
I don’t pretend that this looks anything like the late, great Alan Napier, but my ’66 Bats needed an Alfred, and so this will have to do. I chose the Mattel suited body as a base, as it’s tall and skinny, much like Mr. Napier. For the head I chose (read more...)
