Anyone who collects comics or toys in the Dallas area knows about Zeus Comics and Toys. I’ve been to comic shops around the globe, and Zeus is unlike any other. It’s clean, well lit, and generally has an upscale feel to it lacking in most other shops. Most importantly, the staff is knowledgeable, polite, and genuinely enthused about the industry.

Zeus is the creation of proprietor Richard Neal. Like so many people, Richard was just getting along as best he could without much fulfillment, when he decided to turn his passion into a business. While running a comic shop is hard work, no matter who or where you are, Richard has pulled it off with style and elegance. He’s built up a loyal customer base that keeps coming back. With the advent of CAPE, the largest Free Comic Book Day event in the nation, Zeus and Richard are now known the world over. Richard’s efforts have not gone unnoticed, as Zeus is the recipient of the Will Eisner Spirit of Comics Retailer Award (2006). (That’s a big deal, folks!)

I’m pleased and proud to know Richard and call him friend. This figure was a gift to him during Son of CAPE.

Oh… The recipe.. Richard was made from a Mattel animated Two-Face body (with Magic Sculpt shirt) and a Nemesis head.

Created May 2007
