Todd McFarlane’s use of the DC license has gone from “unique and appropriate sculpts for every new character” to “let’s reuse those parts no matter how inappropriate.”
To be clear, I have no problem with reuse of parts when the parts make sense to do so. It’s when the boundaries get pushed I started to cringe. Todd’s Supergirl would be an example of such cringe. He insisted in reusing the thigh-high boot legs from Catwoman, and that just doesn’t work in this case. Even if one were to paint above the boot line, it would be hidden under the skirt. That’s not accurate for the character design.
I stole the legs from a Masters of the Universe Masterverse Catra and gave them to Kara, repainting the boots in the process. I recall I swapped everything under the skirt, and the joint systems were not at all compatible. I don’t recall how I made it work.
The cape is from eBay.
